November 17th marks the 10th day of the lunar calendar when the male energy of skillful means is most prevalent.
This day also marks the Anniversary of Guru Padmasambhava, one of Guru Rinpoche's manifestations. On the 10th day of the month of the Ox, Guru Rinpoche arrived in Central Tibet. After he subdued the hostile demons and local deities of Tibet, he erected teh great monastery of Chokhor Palgyi Samye, and lit the lamp of the Holy Dharma of the Sutras and Mantras. Guiding his 25 disciples and the king to liberation, he became known as Guru Padmasambhava, the Lotus-Born Guru.
