Chatral Sangye Dorje Passing and Vajrasattva Practice

  • Academy of Mantric Disciplines 119 Roosevelt Drive Poughquag, NY 12570 United States (map)

Dear Sangha, Friends and Bodhivastu community members,
It is with great sadness that we bring you the news that our root teacher, Kyabje Chatral Sangye Dorje Rinpoche has recently passed into the Dharmadhatu, the basic  open space of the Dharma.  Although a great accomplished master of his level has no experience of coming or going, from our perspective this change presents itself to our limited away of seeing and so deep sadness arises.  By this, we are deeply reminded of the impermanence of all things and our heavy minds naturally turn towards the Dharma.
Concurrently, although Kyabje Chatral Rinpoche needs absolutely no assistance from us, this is a time when we can all readily connect with his profound blessing stream when Rinpoche’s mind is without boundary or no longer within the ordinary confines or limits of place and time.  This is therefore a unique and rare period when practice is stressed in order to purify our obscurations and defilements, accumulate vast merit and wisdom. In particular the practice of Dorje Sempa (Vajrasattva) as well as other practices such as Narak Kong Shak, Tsok and butter lamp offerings are extremely important to accomplish.
Starting today through Friday, we will be holding Vajrasattva practice at Ngadra Labrang, (The Academy of Mantric Disciplines, the name given our center by Kyabje Chatral Sangye Dorje Rinpoche), and also again specifically on Monday, January 11th.  Since the schedule is variable and may fluctuate, those wishing to come must first contact us if you wish to attend any of the sessions.  Morning sessions start by 8:30 AM and end at noon, and afternoon sessions start at 2:30 PM and end at around 5:00 PM.
This is also a time when we can accumulate merit and a connection to Rinpoche’s Dharmakaya mind stream by the offering of Tsok and Butter lamps.  Additionally, we will be hosting people to stay and practice at the center and so supporting this is also meritorious and valid.  Those wishing to make offerings at our center in this way, can send their donations via our website.
