Vajrakilaya Mandala

Project Updates

“The profound practice of Vajrakilaya is one of the most powerful and decisive methods of purifying all kinds of mental, physical, and spiritual pollution, while removing negative forces and demonic influences and ushering in the vivid blissful prosperity and well-being we all truly need in these challenging and confused times”.

— Lama Rangbar Nyimai Özer

Being a personal meditational deity of both Guru Padmasambhava and Khandro Yeshe Tsogyal and as an embodiment of the activity of all the Buddhas, Vajrakilaya stands out as one of the most important Yidam practices within the Nyingma lineage.

Establishing a Vajrakilaya mandala is indeed one of the most effective ways to pacify all kinds of outer, inner and secret obstacles — for our world and all other beings. Once established, such a mandala serves as a tangible, permanent support for accessing the blessing stream and potency of deity Vajrakilaya and an anchor for its presence and activity.

With Vajrakilaya being one of the key practices in Bodhivastu’s Trinlay Khachöd Ling, building a full-scale mandala is one of the crucial activities we wish to accomplish.

Once the mandala is properly established, we will be able to maintain and use the same support for decades to come. We aim to conduct an annual Vajrakilaya Drupchö, “accomplishment ceremony” for world peace and the benefit of all sentient beings, with the first one occurring in 2024.

Drupchös are intensive practice sessions which typically run for a period of five to fourteen days and continue all day long, with few breaks. These intensive and condensed practice situations offer practitioners profound accomplishments and present a rare  opportunity for making great and indelible strides in our personal energy, understanding levels and general evolution. It is said that drupchens and drupchos can bring about the same accomplishment as a three year retreat.

Equally importantly, being present in a Drupchen or supporting it in any way helps to generate a great deal of merit and contributes towards building something which carries a lasting benefit at a great scale while establishing an energy that will remain and support an ongoing deep practice for one’s entire life.

Your Participation and Contribution

Since the Vajrakilaya Mandala is so important in general, and a key component of a Drubchens and Drupchös in particular, here is what still needs to be done:

  • The mandala base and all the mandala figures must be painted

  • The three storied Mandala housing must be completed

  • All the brocade surroundings (Namsa) must be made to fit the mandala

For this purpose, and to conduct a Drupchö in the summer of 2024 led by Tulku Thadral Rinpoche, Lama Rangbar Nyimai Özer, and Chogtrul Tersay Dorje Dradül Rahula, we need to raise $6,500 — please join us in this effort:

Iron Dorje Lingpa Terma Phurba Replica
$800.00

Those of you who donate $800 or more will receive a very special iron phurba of perfect proportions. This phurba was crafted as a meticulous replica of an ancient Terma phurba of Dorje Lingpa which was previously in possession of Lama Rangbar Nyimai Özer who offered it to the Venerable Bhakha Tulku Rinpoche.

These phurbas are unavailable elsewhere, since it was Lama Rangbar personally who spent several months training our blacksmith in Nepal to properly replicate these hand-carved iron phurbas. Furthermore, each of these phurbas has a special space on top of its head below the dorje topknot ornament for the placement of sacred substances or a relic.
